Pharmacotherapy

In the clinical setting, physicians rely on pharmacotherapy solely or in conjunction with other forms of treatment, depending on the sleep disorder.

Such disorders would include, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, periodic limb movements, narcolepsy, and REM sleep behavior disorder, to name a few. The sleep medicine physician will discuss which medications may be appropriate for you during the initial consultation visit.

In the research setting, there are opportunities to participate in upcoming pharmaceutical trials. Due to the clinical trials available through the Sleep Center our physicians are kept informed about the latest and most promising FDA approved and upcoming medications for the treatment of sleep disorders. This will allow you to be a part of leading edge research in the field of sleep medicine and try medications that are not currently available to the public. If you are interested in being a part of an upcoming research trial for an investigative drug, please contact our research coordinator, Janine at 314-747-3805 or email kampelmanj@neuro.wustl.edu
