Brief history
Our center opened in the 1980’s and began training fellows in the mid-1990’s. In 1999, it moved from the main Barnes-Jewish medical campus to the Chase Park Plaza building located next to the hospital where it officially became the Sleep Medicine Center. In 2005 , our center was accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). In 2014, the center moved into newly renovated space at the Center 40 Building in Brentwood, Missouri, which is a nearby suburb of St. Louis, approximately 5 miles (10 minute) drive from the main medical campus.

Pediatric Sleep Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital
Our fellows spend significant time learning pediatric sleep medicine at our newly expanded and renovated Pediatric Sleep Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This sleep center is also accredited by the AASM and has a 10-bed sleep lab available for overnight sleep studies, as well as an active inpatient sleep service. The sleep center performs over 2,400 sleep studies annually. Faculty is multidisciplinary representing pediatric specialists in neurology, pulmonology, otolaryngology and psychology.
Inpatient Sleep Service at Barnes-Jewish Hospital
Our fellows also rotate at Barnes-Jewish Hospital where they perform sleep medicine inpatient consults and interpret inpatient sleep studies performed several times a week on hospitalized patients. This very active and unique inpatient service allows our fellows to work with other specialties in the inpatient setting, to evaluate sleep problems related to underlying conditions such as heart failure, stroke, neuromuscular disease and COPD.
